Summary:
On the heels of Pujols’ jubilant return to Cardinals Nation this past weekend, the timing for this week’s Tom’s Tips episode couldn’t be any more on base. Especially when it comes to kids. As youth sports games continue throughout the summer months, it’s important to keep a game plan in mind as the players take the field: Remember that they are kids!
If there’s one highlight to remember from St. Louis fans’ contagious ovations for the future Hall-of-Famer playing on the opposing team, it’s that sometimes plain ole good sportsmanship reverberates louder than the crushing collision of #5’s bat striking a sinker. And when that homer sailed just six feet from where Executive Director Tom Duff, MSW, LCSW and his son sat on that semi-steamy Saturday afternoon, you can bet the two Cubs fans stretched as far as their baseball gloves would take them to try and clinch the second-best moment of the game, followed only by the demanded curtain call by Cards fans for the man who now wears Angels red. If there were ever a lesson in what it means to be a good sport, St. Louis had it all within arms’ reach!
